WEST PALM BEACH, FL- (April 21, 2020) Historically, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League plans a week-long series of events and activities to thank their volunteers, but due to COVID-19 and the social distancing guidelines, a formal celebration will take place at a later time. The staff at Peggy Adams did want to show their love and appreciation virtually with a video to say “thank you” to the hundreds of volunteers that are the backbone of Peggy Adams’ lifesaving mission.
Peggy Adams’ volunteers help in all areas, from caring for the animals, to supporting the surgical team and assisting the animals in finding their forever homes. In 2019 over 42,000 hours of service from campus volunteers were logged and a total of 592 volunteers dedicated their time to help animals in need. The monetary value of Peggy Adams’ volunteers equates to over $1.1 million.
“It is so important that we show our volunteers how much they are needed and appreciated,” said Tara Murray, Volunteer Program Manager at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “Although it was not what I originally had planned, the video still showcases the admiration and esteem we have for our volunteers who so selflessly dedicate their time and talents to the animals in our care. My goal was to create something that would put a smile on their faces during such a stressful and chaotic time.”
Peggy Adams has also seen the community answer the call to provide temporary housing to animals looking for their forever home. Over 600 Palm Beach County residents are now fostering a Peggy Adams’ animal during this time.
