Pet Vaccinations
Keeping Your Pet Safe
A confirmed rabies case has been reported in West Palm Beach/Palm Beach County. Rabies is a deadly virus with no cure and is almost always fatal. The best protection is ensuring your pet is up to date on their rabies vaccination.
Rabies Prevention
- Avoid Wildlife – They are the primary carriers of rabies.
- Keep Vaccines Current – Ensure your pet is vaccinated.
- Limit Outdoor Feeding – Feed pets indoors or remove food after meals to avoid attracting wildlife.
- Report Sick or Aggressive Animals – Call Palm Beach Animal Care & Control at (561) 233-1200.
- Watch for Symptoms – If your pet shows lethargy, aggression, excessive salivation, or paralysis, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Keeping your pet vaccinated and aware of potential risks can help prevent the spread of rabies in our community.
Microchipping
Microchips provide permanent identification and greatly increase the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families. Any rescue, animal control, or veterinary office can scan a microchip to identify an owner quickly.
Think of a microchip as your pet’s high-tech name tag—about the size of a grain of rice, always ready to be scanned, with no batteries or power needed.
