Volunteering at Peggy Adams

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. The Volunteer Program is designed for individuals 16 years and older who want to donate some of their valuable free time to help our animals. Our volunteer team plays an important role in helping fulfill our vision of creating a community where 100% of adoptable animals find loving homes and no animals will be euthanized because of pet overpopulation.

If you are ready to commit your time and talents to Peggy Adams, please read the instructions and follow the steps to get started.

Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers must:

Be at least 16 years old.

Be at least 18 years old to apply for a role involving working with dogs. Dog handlers must be aware that many of the dogs in our shelter are large and energetic. Dog handlers will be required to pass an in-person class.

Must be able to work independently.

Have the ability to make a weekly commitment of a 3-4-hour work shift, for at least three months. Please be aware that the onboarding process may take up to two weeks after orientation.

Pay a $25 Volunteer Application Fee which will be collected at the time of your orientation. This fee includes a volunteer t-shirt, name badge, and background screenings.

Submit to background screening. Your acceptance into the program will be determined based on the outcome of the screening.

NOTE: We are not accepting court-appointed volunteers.

NOTE: We are not accepting donations in exchange for community service hours.

NOTE: Currently we have limited open positions on weekends. Our main needs are Monday through Friday. Please contact volunteering@peggyadams.org before you register for orientation if you are only available on the weekends.

Prospect volunteers, we appreciate your patience while we process all the applications. The process to become an active volunteer may take a few weeks.
