West Palm Beach, FL (January XX, 2018) The Dolly’s Dream Project was created in 2015 to help dispel the myths of bully breed dogs. Sadly, American Staffordshire terriers, American bulldogs, bull terriers, and mixes of these breeds are prevalent in shelters across the country. To reduce the number of these dogs being born and entering shelters, the Dolly’s Dream project offers free spay or neuter for bully breeds residing in Palm Beach County. In 2018, the Dolly’s Dream Project is continuing to provide funding to Peggy Adams to spay or neuter 300 pit bulls and pit mixes. These dogs must reside in Palm Beach County and services include vaccines, a microchip, and an e-collar.
In addition to spay/neuter funding, the Dolly’s Dream Project sponsors two great dogs available for adoption at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. When one of these two dogs are adopted, the adopters will receive: waived adoption fee ; free ID tag; collar; harness; leash; training crate; dog bed; toys; training treat bag; food and water bowls; and seven months of pet insurance.
“Dolly” was a Square Head who opened the heart of the man who adopted her and taught him how loving, sweet and gentle these dogs can be. These loving animals are no different than any other type of dog. Today, in her honor, Dolly’s Dream is to give dogs like her a second chance at life and a forever home which every dog deserves.
At Peggy Adams, as with many other larger animal shelters in Florida and around the nation, there are many mixed breeds looking for their forever family. “At first glance some would call a dog with a “Square Head” a “pit bull” or a “bully breed”- that’s simply not the case. They are just mixed breed dogs and are becoming one of the most popular and most beloved breeds in America,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “We are grateful to continue our partnership with Dolly’s Dream and are continually inspired by their mission,” he added.
Daniella Jordan, Director of the Dolly’s Dream Project is thrilled with success of the adoption program. “This element of the program will hopefully allow potential adopters the opportunity to see what wonderful dogs they are. Each week two Dolly’s Dream Dogs are featured at each of the participating shelters. These are dogs that may have been surrendered by their families or are transfers from animal control facilities. The one thing all the dogs have in common is that they all need a loving family.”
