PALM BEACH, FL– (March 23, 2018) Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League hosted an elegant dinner for over 90 supporters at Club Colette on March 18 to unveil plans for a new Pet Adoption Center at the League’s West Palm Beach campus. The new Center will have room for 40 percent more cats and 50 percent more dogs and will make it possible to save up to twice as many animals once completed in 2020. Presently, the League is able to find homes for more than 5,000 animals each year.
During the event and announcement of the new Center, Danielle Moore, League supporter and President of the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation, announced a surprise grant, approved by her Board of Directors, to contribute a $3 million match for the construction of the new Pet Adoption Center. This donation will recognize Lesly S. Smith.
Christina Dennis also announced at the event a generous $1.5 million matching gift, to name one of three Dog Adoption Wings in memory of her mother Louise Dennis.
These two exceptional contributions together have created a $4.5 matching fund with which to ignite the campaign to raise funds for the Pet Adoption Center at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.
The new Pet Adoption Center will include state-of-the-art facilities with individual outdoor patios for dogs and cats; weather-wise play yards for dog training classes for the public and for the animals’ daily playgroups; windows and doors with noise reduction glass to reduce stress for the animals in shelter; and landscaped meet-and-greet courtyards for families to test whether a pet is right for them.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s CEO and Executive Director, Rich Anderson reports, “This is one of the most exciting and dynamic times in the 90+ year history of Peggy Adams. We are confident the community support we have always received will continue through this campaign to help us build the most modern, state-of-the-art animal shelter to continue our commitment to save lives and to end pet homelessness in Palm Beach County.”
