KAST Construction to begin construction at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League to make room for its new Pet Adoption and Humane Education Center scheduled to open in the Fall of 2020 – Demolition of Gray House begins at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24th
WEST PALM BEACH, FL- Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, the largest pet adoption and animal welfare organization in Palm Beach County, will officially begin construction on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 beginning at 10:00 a.m. on its new Pet Adoption and Humane Education Center. Preliminary work has been in progress all summer and the start of construction by KAST Construction will be marked by the demolition of the “Gray House”, the original dwelling on the League’s 13.2-acre site located at 3200 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach.
The “Gray House” was built in 1956. It was the private home of the farmer when the property was an orchid nursery. Sold to the League in 1982, it had been renovated in 1999/2000 into an animal training and education center.
Peggy Adams broke ground in February of this year for their new Pet Adoption and Humane Education Center being constructed at their West Palm Beach campus. Upon its scheduled opening in 2020, the Center will have the capacity to double the amount of lives rescued enabling Peggy Adams to save thousands more dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.

“It is because of the incredibly generous support of thousands of caring donors, and the dedication of our Board of Directors under the leadership of its Chair, Lesly S. Smith, that we are able to take this major step in order to save more lives,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “Our goal is to continue making Peggy Adams one of the nation’s leading animal welfare organizations. This new facility will allow us to save twice as many lives each year and provide quality humane education programs that are sorely lacking in our community. Educating more people – youth in particular – about the humane treatment of animals, is critical to the prevention of cruelty, abuse and the abandonment of animals,” Anderson added.
All programs at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League support the Countdown 2 Zero initiative (C2Z), the partnership with Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control to save every adoptable animal in Palm Beach County. Our goal is that Palm Beach County will be one of the largest no-kill communities in the United States by the year 2024. The sixth annual Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th at the South Florida Fairgrounds. To learn more, please visit countdown2zero.org
