BAARK (Bahamas Alliance for Animal Rights and Kindness), The Bahamas Humane Society, The Veterinary Medical Association of the Bahamas and The Ministry of Agriculture, as the lead agencies in the Bahamas, ae working alongside Peggy Adams with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). IFAW is an international organization that has the expertise to help navigate the days, weeks and months ahead.
With the continued support of our local community, Peggy Adams will be able to help save these animals from the Bahamas and more lost, abandoned and injured animals here in Palm Beach County.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the people of the Bahamas and we are working to help in any way we can, including providing supplies and providing care, shelter and new homes for displaced dogs and cats,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “I know our local community will fully support this effort to save lives.”
Peggy Adams has also helped coordinate a donation of more than 3,000 pounds of food for the Bahamas through GreaterGood.org.
*Please note that the Government of the Bahamas is discouraging all self-deployed rescue and relief services for both people and pets. Once the cats and dogs arrive in Florida, the animals will be quarantined for upwards of 30 days. The community can help by adopting current animals at the shelters in order to make space for Bahamian animals. At this time, if you would like to donate to relief efforts, please consider:
