More than 20 Maine Coon-type cats, rescued from a hoarding crisis, are getting a second chance at life.
Late Wednesday night, the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League shelter was alerted to a case involving over 50 cats kept in filthy conditions in Naples. By Thursday morning, the rescue said its team was on the road, returning with more than 20 of the most urgent cases — many needing immediate medical care.
Now, Peggy Adams is urging the community to step up during its “Summer Lovin'” fee-waived adoption event on June 14, aiming to place more than 100 animals into loving homes and free up much-needed space.
“Every adoption this Saturday makes room for another life in need,” said Sue Berry, CEO. “We’re asking our community to show up, adopt, and be part of the solution.”
If you can’t adopt, you can still make a life-saving impact by donating to the shelter, which helps cover the cost of emergency rescues and medical treatments for animals — like those saved this week.
For those interested in meeting these cats in person, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is located at 3100 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach. All adoption fees are waived thanks to the help of sponsors, according to the news release.
