Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Lucky Dog Training Club have partnered to offer pet parents behavior and training resources.
Whether it’s training dogs at Peggy Adams to prepare them for adoption or offering a variety of training classes for the community, both organizations embrace a dog-friendly, positive training philosophy and strive to share the goal of enhancing the dog/human relationship.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Lucky Dog Training Club have collaborated to offer multiweek training courses for all dogs.
These courses can improve focus, safety, mental stimulation, bonding, trust, and socialization skills. Basic Obedience, Intermediate Obedience, or Reactivity courses are available to help your dog reach their full potential. You can find all the course information, requirements, and schedules at PeggyAdams.org/LuckyDogTraining.
Registration is mandatory for these courses, and space is limited.
The Basic Obedience Course is a five week program starting Nov. 4, designed to teach your dog fundamental skills, including sit, down, stay, heel and come when called.
Also starting Nov. 4, the Intermediate Obedience Course is a five-week training program that will refine basic skills and add intermediate ones for dog/handler teams.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Lucky Dog Training Club will hold the Taming Tarzan Course beginning Oct. 28. This is a reactive dog training program designed to help dogs that exhibit reactive behavior, such as excessive barking, lunging, or growling in response to certain triggers. This course uses positive reinforcement techniques to teach dogs alternative, more desirable behaviors while reducing their reactivity.
There also is a free “Ask the Trainer” session every first Thursday of the month with Jamie Diaz from Lucky Dog Training Club, who will come and answer training and behavior questions. If you’ve ever wondered about training techniques, behavioral issues or simply want expert advice on how to enhance your furry friend’s well-being, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Jamie Diaz, the owner of Lucky Dog Training Club, also visits Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League twice a week to educate the staff and volunteers on fear free dog handling techniques and to keep a cohesive training plan with our shelter dogs by using the same body language and verbal cues shelter-wide.
