As Hurricane Milton approaches, the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is on a mission to save animals in need.
The organization stated that on Tuesday, they will transport up to 21 dogs and 15 cats from shelters in Clewiston and Venice Beach.
This effort follows their recent transfer of 12 dogs and 16 cats from other shelters affected by Hurricane Helene.
In response to the impending storm, Peggy Adams mentioned that they have activated its emergency assistance plan. Teams will travel across the state in rental vans to pick up these animals.
Additionally, some rescued dogs will be taken to Palm Beach International Airport, where they will be flown to Panama City Beach for safety.
The dogs from Clewiston are expected to arrive at the shelter around noon on Tuesday, and the cats from Venice Beach will arrive at approximately 2 p.m.
To accommodate these new arrivals, Peggy Adams stated that they urgently need foster families to take in dogs.
Due to the situation, Peggy Adams’s intake of local animals will be paused through the weekend.
It was noted that the shelter is continuing its Bissell adoption special until October 15, offering adult cats for $25 and adult dogs for $50, along with a $20 rabies tag fee for Palm Beach County residents.
