After a break last Saturday, the city of West Palm Beach’s GreenMarket was back and furrier than ever.
The third annual Rovers in the Park presented by Land Rover Palm Beach featured its adoptable doggy fashion show on the green lawn during the Green Market.
Hundreds of humans came out to support or even find their next furry friend, like Jon Brand, who’s been on the hunt for the perfect fit.
“I’m here looking at dogs,” Brand said. “I want to take one home so that way, I can spoil it and enjoy my forever companion. There are so many options out here, and all of them are very beautiful.”
Rovers in the Park brought the adoptable dogs to downtown West Palm Beach with the help of volunteers. The dogs came from shelters like Furry Friends, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Peggy Adams, Tri-County, Kelly’s Fosters, Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue, Sunshine State Labrador Rescue and Kibbles of Love pet food bank and rescue. From puppies to seniors, there was something for everyone.
Angela Poco, the city of West Palm Beach marketing and community events manager, said, “We are hoping to get as many pets adopted as possible. That’s our goal.”
And this year already shattered last year’s numbers. There were 12 adoptions made, and there are six pending adoptions from groups that don’t adopt out the same day. Three of the dogs that went home are from Peggy Adams.
Mara Gleason with Peggy Adams said, “We’re so excited to be here at public events and show the community what rescue can be between fostering, adopting and volunteering. There’s so many ways to get involved and show off the diversity of dogs that we have here at Peggy Adams and show off the other community rescues.”
Every adoption made makes room in the shelter for another dog to come in and have another chance.
