Spay Day

Peggy Adams is doing its part to limit the cats you see out and about on the streets of our community. During Spay Day, all cats will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and left ear tipped.

Please read the important information provided below. The registration button is located further down the page.

Can’t make it for Spay Day but still want to help?
We offer FREE TNVR surgeries for cats in Palm Beach County every Monday to Friday.

Why is Spay Day happening now?
We can “beat the heat” of kitten season by playing a role in reducing the number of potential pregnancies and kittens in Palm Beach County!

Why do we ear tip?

Ear tipping is an effective and universally accepted method to identify a spayed/neutered and vaccinated cat that is outdoors. Ear tipping is a surgical procedure performed under anesthesia by a veterinarian that removes the top one-quarter of a cat’s left ear, which is approximately 3/8 inch, or 1 cm, in an adult and proportionally smaller in a kitten.

This procedure is performed while the cat is already anesthetized for spay or neuter surgery. There is little or no bleeding, it is relatively painless to the cat, and the ear tip does not significantly alter the appearance or beauty of the cat.

Ear tipping is a safety precaution that allows trappers and residents to identify cats from a distance that have already been fixed. The procedure does not harm the cat and lets everyone know that they do not need to be trapped.

What is a humane trap?

A humane trap should have the following:

  • Newspaper or other absorbent material to line the inside of the trap
  • A blanket or towel to cover the trap
  • Be sized properly for the cat you are going to trap

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League offers residents of Palm Beach County free trap loans for the purpose of TNVR at our Grace Pavilion during our hours of operation (Monday – Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm).

Each trap requires a fully refundable deposit ($95 for Tru-Catch traps or $45 for Harbor Freight traps) on a credit/debit card.

The loan period for traps is 14 days and they must be returned clean and in good working order for the deposit to be refunded.

Saturday, August 15, 2026

All cats must come in a trap, not a carrier. Traps are available for loan with a refundable deposit.

South Florida’s Regional Spay Day

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is excited to make our Saturday, August 15 Spay Day even more impactful by hosting our second South Florida Spay Day in partnership with five South Florida animal welfare organizations.

Together, we’re uniting to expand access to Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) services for community cats:

  • In Broward County, we’re partnering with the Humane Society of Broward County and Broward County Animal Care.
  • In Miami-Dade County, we’re partnering with Miami-Dade Animal Services and Street Cat Clinic.
  • In Collier County, we’re partnering with Collier County Domestic Animal Services.

Through this powerful, multi-county collaboration, we aim to spay and neuter more than 1,000 community cats in a single day — preventing future litters and reducing pet overpopulation across South Florida.

Volunteer at Spay Day

Spay Day wouldn’t be possible without the help of dedicated volunteers assisting with essential duties such as check-in, laundry, recovery, cat transport, and more. Whether you’re volunteering as an individual or with a group, we’d love to have you on board!

No prior registration as a Peggy Adams volunteer is required. All Spay Day volunteers must be at least 16 years old. If you are fluent in Spanish or Creole, we encourage you to sign up to help us better assist our community.

Donate to Support Our Program

We are very grateful to our individual supporters, Palm Beach County, and a private foundation for underwriting the cost of TNVR to spay/neuter, vaccinate, and microchip all free-roaming cats in the county!

Spay Day is a success thanks to the support from our community. Every donation helps our event run smoothly, and ultimately helps us save the lives of cats in Palm Beach County.

Donate traps to Peggy Adams

To withstand the volume of cats being brought in for TNVR Spay Day, we need lots of traps! Peggy Adams offers residents of Palm Beach County free trap loans for the purpose of TNVR. Help us help the community!

What is TNVR?

Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) is a program in which free-roaming cats are humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies and other feline viruses, microchipped, and then returned to their outdoor homes.

TNVR has been shown to be the least costly, most effective, and humane way of stabilizing and decreasing community cat populations.
