Peggy Adams está haciendo todo lo posible para limitar el gran número de gatos comunitarios que diariamente deambulan en las calles de nuestra comunidad. Durante el “Dia de esterilización” todos los gatos serán esterilizados/castrados, “microchip”, vacunados, y el corte “punta de oreja” sin costo alguno.

Durante el “Dia de esterilización” se ofrecen gratuitamente cirugías para esterilizar/castrar gatos comunitarios en el área del sur de Florida. Durante el “Dia de esterilización” todos los gatos serán esterilizados/castrados, “microchip”, vacunados, y corte de la punta de la oreja izquierda.
Sugerimos que por favor se registren con anticipación. Además daremos la bienvenida a aquellos sin cita previa. Todos los gatos deben de ser transportados dentro de una trampa para gatos comunitarios, no en un cargador o transportador de animales. Prestamos trampas para gatos comunitarios con un depósito reembolsable.

Una trampa humanitaria debe incluir:
- Trampas del tamaño adecuado para los animales que vas a atrapar.
- Toallas para cubrir la trampa si vas a atrapar gatos.
- Papel periódico o material absorbente para forrar o revestir el interior de la trampa.

El “Día de esterilización” no sería posible sin la ayuda de voluntarios dedicados que ayudan con tareas esenciales como el registro, la lavandería, la recuperación, el transporte de gatos y más. Ya sea que participes como voluntario individual o en grupo, ¡nos encantaría contar contigo!
No es necesario registrarse previamente como voluntario de Peggy Adams. Todos los voluntarios del Día de la Esterilización deben tener al menos 16 años. Si hablas español o criollo con fluidez, te animamos a registrarte para ayudarnos a brindar un mejor servicio a nuestra comunidad.

April 18, 2026
On April 18, 2026, a total of 401 community cats were spayed and neutered—196 females and 205 males—marking an incredible day of lifesaving impact.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the dedication of local trappers and more than 150 volunteers, veterinary professionals, and staff members who worked side by side to care for each cat.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the University of Florida Shelter Medicine Program for providing student doctors and instructors to perform high-volume surgeries; IDEXX for generously supplying breakfast; Veterinary Emergency Group for sponsoring lunch for our hardworking team; Ardath Rosengarden for sponsoring the event; and Merck Animal Health for donating 625 doses of FVRCP vaccine for community cats.
We are also grateful to our Regional Spay Day partners—the Humane Society of Broward County, Broward County Animal Care, Miami-Dade Animal Services, Street Cat Clinic, and Collier County Domestic Animal Services—for joining forces in this multi-county effort. Together, we spayed and neutered 813 community cats, expanding our impact across the region and helping to create a more humane future for cats in our communities.
January 10, 2026
484 community cats were spayed and neutered during our January 10, 2026 Spay Day—including 250 females spayed and 234 males neutered.
This remarkable milestone would not have been possible without the support of more than 150 volunteers, veterinary professionals, and staff members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day a success.

August 2, 2025
Thanks to an incredible collaborative effort, 524 community cats were spayed/neutered during our August 2 Spay Day event—295 females spayed and 229 males neutered.
This lifesaving achievement was made possible by:
- 15 veterinarians, 8 veterinary students, and dedicated support staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day
- 84 volunteers, who generously donated a total of 267 hours, assisted with check-in, surgery prep, instrument sanitization, trap and cat organization, recovery, and more

April 26, 2025
432 community cats received free TNVR surgery!
- 432 cats received surgery, including 214 females spayed and 218 males neutered.
- More than 100 volunteers, veterinary professionals, and support staff worked to make this event happen.
- Volunteers donated 630 hours of service assisting with duties throughout the event, including check-in, surgery prep, instrument sanitization, cat and trap organization, recovery, and more.

January 11, 2025
589 community cats received free TNVR surgery!
589 cats received surgery, including 306 females spayed and 283 males neutered.
14 veterinarians and 52 veterinary nurses performed TNVR services.
10 veterinary students and 2 instructors from the Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida worked alongside us to perform high-volume spay and neuter surgeries.
55 volunteers assisted with duties throughout the event, including check-in, surgery prep, instrument sanitization, cat and trap organization, recovery, and more.
Over 100 trappers brought cats in for TNVR.
3 missing cats were reunited with their families thanks to microchips.
A special thank you to the Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida and to BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Fix the Future Program for helping us recruit additional veterinarians for Spay Day.
June 8th, 2024
We broke our record from the previous Spay Day by performing 669 free TNVR surgeries!
- 669 cats received free TNVR surgery, including 380 females spayed and 289 males neutered.
- 7 special surgeries, including tail amputation, enucleation (eye removal), and hernia repair.
- 10 veterinarians, 12 University of Florida veterinary students, and over 40 veterinary technicians worked alongside us to perform surgeries.
- 76 volunteers, including group volunteers from The Breakers and Americorps, worked alongside 100 Peggy Adams staff members with duties throughout the event, including check-in, surgery prep, instrument sanitization, cat and trap organization, recovery, and much more.
- A special thank you to IDEXX for providing us with breakfast and to MetLife Pet Insurance for providing us with lunch!
August 5th, 2023
A record-breaking 505 community cats received free TNVR surgery!
- 10 doctors, 32 veterinary technicians, and 12 veterinary students joined together from across Florida to perform surgeries. This group included teams from the University of Florida, Veterinary Emergency Group, Humane Society of Broward County, Animal Control and Protective Services of Jacksonville, and All Care Animal Clinic.
- 51 volunteers worked alongside Peggy Adams’ staff with duties all throughout the event, including check-in, surgery prep, instrument sanitization, cat & trap organization, recovery, and more.
- A special thank you to Elanco for providing cat vaccines, BRK Republic Dog Park & Bar for a delicious lunch for our team, Hill’s Pet Nutrition for lunch for the cats, and IDEXX for team breakfast!
April 29th, 2023
406 community cats received free TNVR surgery!
- 10 doctors, 33 veterinary technicians, and 11 veterinary students joined together from across Florida to perform surgeries. This group included a team from Operation Catnip Gainesville, students from the University of Florida, and teams from Veterinary Emergency Group, Humane Society of Broward County, Gardens Animal Hospital, and ACCESS.
- 57 volunteers worked alongside Peggy Adams’ staff for this Spay Day event.
January 7th, 2023
132 people brought in 422 cats for TNVR surgery!
- This diverse group included first-time trappers alongside our many veterans.
- 12 doctors, 25 veterinary technicians, and 9 veterinary students joined together from across Florida to perform surgeries. This group included a team from Operation Catnip Gainesville, students from the University of Florida, and a team from Veterinary Emergency Group.
- In 7.5 hours of operative time, our team completed 422 spay and neuter surgeries on community cats. These surgeries include the spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchipping, and a tipped ear tip to signify a completed TNVR surgery.
- 47 volunteers and 42 Peggy Adams’ staff assisted in duties all throughout the event, including check-in, surgery prep, instrument sanitization, cat & trap organization, recovery, and more.

Atrapar, Esterilizar, Vacunar y Regresar (AEVR) es un programa en el que los gatos que deambulan libremente son atrapados humanitariamente, esterilizados/castrados, vacunados contra la rabia y otros virus felinos, se les coloca un microchip y luego se les devuelve a sus hogares al aire libre.
